The Barney Bunch Wiki:About
The Barney Bunch Wiki is dedicated to a group known as the Barney Bunch, which first formed in 2005, alongside the adjacent Speakonia Community. This includes characters, videos, creators within the community, and certain events that happened within the community's history. There were a few attempts to have a wiki that chronicles the Barney Bunch, but were either closed or shut down (as was what happened to the recent Speakonia Community Wiki on Fandom), so this will primarily serve as the main Barney Bunch Wiki for the time being. Below will be a list of rules and things to be done in order to keep this wiki in good condition.
What Needs To Be Done
Right now, we managed to save many of the pages/images that were on the Fandom Speakonia Community Wiki, and have salvaged some pages from the old Miraheze Speakonia wiki before that one shut down (VERY special thanks to SavageBoy for finding an xml document on the wiki). That said, there is still more work to be done to keep this wiki up to snub with what came before. Since Miraheze seems to be less-restricted than Fandom, we will be able to add many of the videos that the community has made (though we will have to make a rule as to which videos should receive pages). These are the main things we need for the wiki:
- Infoboxes for Events and Videos
- Video files
- New logo and favicon
- General polishing of articles (fixing broken links, spelling/grammar errors, etc.)
- Ensure that there is at least some activity every week (in order to keep this wiki from being locked of edits and closing down from inactivity. Such was the fate of the Miraheze Speakonia Community Wiki)
Rules of the Wiki
In order to maintain the quality of the wiki, it should be in the best interest to bring in some of the rules from the Fandom Speakonia Community Wiki. Some of these rules may be subject to change, so be sure to keep an eye out and read the rules carefully.
- 1. Be respectful. Pretty self-explanatory. Everyone should get along nicely.
- 2. No excessive self-promoting/ego stroking. This was a big problem that happened on the Fandom Speakonia Community Wiki, and we hope that it won't happen again here. Basically, this means don't excessively add yourself, your characters/groups, or personal canons into articles. This also extends to videos as well. This is meant to be an informative wiki, NOT act as a vehicle for self-advertising yourself, your random ideas, or whatever just recently happened on your channel.
- 3. Do follow established formatting. With this being the third version of an informative Barney Bunch wiki (preceded by Drew Pickles and the BB Wiki, Speakonia Community Wiki on Miraheze, The Speakonia Community Wiki on Fandom), it is important to adhere to the formatting that those wikis had and even build upon them. Any major "overhauls" (things like moving/renaming pages or files and the like) MUST be approved by the owners and admins of this wiki.
- 4. Quality over Quantity. With something as vast as the Speakonia Community, it is important to know that some information on its past is either sparse or lost. As such, in order to prevent the wiki from being filled to the brim with nonsense, we will only be making articles for characters, groups, videos, sites, and members who have left a significant impact on the community and have plenty of information on them. The last thing we need is a repeat of the Fandom Barney Bunch Wiki, or creating pages for the sake of it. At the end of the day, this wiki is meant to be an encyclopedia chronicling the history of the Barney Bunch, significant characters, and the people behind it all, not act as a personal playground for your random ideas. This rule goes as follows:
- If the particular subject (character, group, video, site, community member, etc.) has enough information on them and are are generally well known, as forgotten or very obscure things will not have enough information to receive their own article.
- A group or character has to have been utilized in numerous videos and must have plenty of information on them. They must have also done something of significance outside of their introduction video or a single Goes To video or whatever. As such, the character/group must have been utilized by more than THREE users outside of the creator of the group/character in order for them to get their own article. That is not an excuse for you to add your own characters or groups in, especially if you are the only one who actually uses them. As stated before, this is meant to be an informative wiki and not a dumping ground for your random headcanons. Sandboxes exist for a reason.
- While on the subject of Sandboxes, that is what they are meant to be. Sandboxes. They are not meant to be full pages, and there's a good likelihood that they will not become full pages. Again, pages and articles should only be reserved for actual important information and not some random thing that only you subscribe to. If you believe your Sandbox page should be turned into a normal one (and that is a very big "if"), you should talk to the owners/admins and see if they are okay with it, otherwise it will be reverted back to its Sandbox state. Again, remember Quality over Quantity. If need be, we'll make an entire spinoff Wiki dedicated to Sandbox pages.
- As far as community members (at least the ones that are still around) go, some might now want to have an article about themselves here. As such, it is extremely important that you ask them first before you go ahead and make an article about them, an respect their wishes to not make one if they say "no", no matter how influential they may be. For videos, we will only be making articles on important videos or ones of significant value, which means you should not be making articles about your own videos. Remember Rules #2 and #4.
As stated before, these rules may be subject to change in the future, but these were then tentpole rules used for the Fandom Speakonia Community Wiki. If you have any questions, be sure to let the owners and admins know.
